1. This is true server management. We interact with you and proactively monitor your servers to help you get the most out of your code and your hardware.
    
2. We built an automated and distributed backup system that does not use tape drives, but whole backup servers instead. This allows us to switch our point of presence to one of three locations should something go wrong.
    
3. We can conduct security audits to help find common web application holes, including SQL Injection Attacks and common overflow exploits, effectively helping you to limit your liability for your online presence.
    
4. Solid, qualified, and affordable hardware with our distributed backup system to reach better cost structures with the reliability of high end systems. We benchmark and test platforms for 3 to 6 months before offering them to our customers. This goes beyond burn-in testing, and provides uptime data for hardware drivers and new operating systems or service pack compatibility.

Web Site Reliability and Internet Infrastructure

Magiclamp Networks has an excellent reputation for months of uptime without problems. When problems do occur, 3rd party monitoring alerts our server administration staff via pager and cell phone, and one or more people are on call at all times of the day. If the problem can not be resolved remotely, one of our staff will be on location with the server(s) within 30 minutes.

Should the server be down for more than 30 seconds, other servers will take over duties for accepting mail from outside domains, and after 5 minutes, present a temporary website (which can be updated) for the domain name offering general messages about temporary difficulties and estimates for when the site will be functional again. For all events that last longer than 30 minutes (including disasters), Magiclamp Networks has built an advanced backup infrastructure, where DNS changes can switch to offsite servers with content and databases archived in the last 72 hours. This insures reliability and recoverability even after catastrophes and hardware failures that span servers. If you require shorter timespans for off-site backups, please let us know, as we can usually accommodate these requests.
